This Mandir / Shrine derives its name from the village of kumta in Karwar district, where it was made in mass scale for devotees of Lord Vitobha of Pandarapura. This mandap consists of a single kalash mounted on a simple shikar supported by plain pillars mounted on an ordinary base. This Mandir / Shrine is a mini replica of the temple of Goddess Meenakshi of the city of Madurai. This temple is of great religious significance to the people of South and is believed to cleanse sinners of all their sins by visiting this temple at least once in their lifetime. This temple is made of a three tier Shikar culminating at the top with three Kalashas and two horns like structures adorning the Kirita. This mandir / shrine is built in the same style as the palaces of king vardhaman1 of the pulakeshi dynasty. This mandap is supported on two pillars and consists of five tiers totally carved from top to bottom with intricately carved pillars supporting pillar sections holding the roof of the mandap.
