This Pooja Door / Home Temple Door Assembly consists of two parts:
a) The door frame and architrave which measures 88½” Height X 53¾” Width. This fits partly into the wall, with a part sitting above the wall. It has three steps, each placed over the other to give an effect of depth. It has intricately hand carved floral motifs interspersed with white inlay.
b) The door shutter which consists of two leaves totally measuring 79” Height X 38” Width with a carving in the center and white inlay on the periphery. All the motifs are carved in a Jali style (trellis work) which allows the agarbatti (incense) smoke to leave the Pooja Room. The motifs on the carving are Om and Swastik on the top row. The second and third rows consist of the four symbols of Lord Balaji, namely Shankh (Conch), Chakra (Discus), Gada (mace) and Padma (lotus flower). It is meant to signify that the lord is ever ready to protect his devotees with the Chakra and Gada, while his benevolence is shown through the Shankh and the Padma. The middle portion has provision for glass, through which the deities inside the Pooja Room can be seen, even when the door is closed. The bottom motif is the Kalash (metal pitcher), which is an auspicious symbol traditionally placed on the threshold
